They say that the more colors you add to your plate, the healthier it gets! People today are always up for more excitement even when it comes to our meals. Thus, we find ourselves getting fond of a smoothie bowl! But don’t get too excited about adding just about anything! You sure need to keep count of your calorie intake and of course, do your research! 

What makes up a Smoothie Bowl

Smoothies have become a favorite go-to meal because it’s conveniently jump-packed with fiber, protein, healthy fats, carbohydrates, and more! What makes it healthier is that all that makes up a smoothie are mostly fresh and/or pureed fruit, vegetable, with a few to totally no amount of liquid such as water, dairy products, plant-milk. 

Now put your smoothies into a bowl and there you have your smoothie bowl — it’s more enticing and with a thicker consistency. To add, it can actually get you through the day longer than your regular smoothie since its fuller! To create a good smoothie bowl, you need to: 

Follow the 3:2 Smoothie Rule

To achieve the right consistency that could best support your flavorful toppings, use three parts of frozen ingredients and two parts of liquid. Your frozen ingredients may be frozen fruits 

Keep track of your ingredients

One of the reasons you fall in love with making your smoothie bowl is that it’s actually exciting! Mixing different ingredients together and seeing how it gets thicker and more colorful, I’d say you might lose count of your calories! Keep it simple and add a few ingredients together, stick to a certain flavor profile so it doesn’t get too overwhelming. 

Make it as creamy as possible

You surely want your smoothie to be as creamy as possible. To do that, you may choose from going all-natural with a healthy fat such as half of an avocado or a frozen banana. Some would opt for a scoop of Greek yogurt. 

Add the right amount of topping 

Again, take note of your serving sizes. Keep it small and be sure to add the right mix of topping that won’t make your smoothie too soggy or put on too-hard toppings. Mix up slices of berries or seeds on top. Some others would opt for dried oats. Tip, add some chia seeds or oats as your smoothie base. 

Load some veggies

Nothing is ever healthier than adding greens to your smoothie bowls! These ingredients have minimal calories so you need not worry about adding at least half a cup of greens to make your bowls more nutrient-dense.

Strawberries and Cream Smoothie Bowl 

What you’ll need:

Frozen Strawberries
½ cup Yogurt
¼ cup milk
Strawberry slices
Pumpkin seeds
Chia seeds

What to do:

Blend together frozen strawberries, yogurt, and milk. Once done, pour in a bowl and start scaling the toppings – cornflakes, strawberry slices, blueberries, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and chia seeds. Drizzle with some yogurt.

Green Smoothie Bowl 

What you’ll need:

Kale leaves
Almond Milk
Agave syrup
Chia Seeds

What to do:

Blend together Kale leaves, almond milk, banana, and avocado. Add some agave syrup to sweeten your smoothie. Once done, pour in a bowl and start scaling the toppings – Raspberries, banana slices, kiwi, and chia seeds. Drizzle some agave.

Alkaline Smoothie Bowl Pudding

Going alkaline at least twice or thrice a week can help give your body a reboot. It gives your body a break from the harmful acid produce. Research states that the alkaline diet does not only help you lose weight but also reduces your risk of chronic diseases.

What you’ll need:

Half a banana
1 cup almond milk or coconut oil
Half cup fresh raspberries
2 tbsp. Cocoa
Crushed almonds
Cocoa powder
Almond powder

What to do:

Blend together the avocado, banana, almond milk or coconut oil, raspberries, and cocoa. Add some stevia to taste but this is only optional. Once done, pour in a bowl and start scaling the toppings – a handful of crushed almonds, a sprinkle of some cocoa, and almond powder.

The Vegan Berry Smoothie Bowl 


What you’ll need:

Kale or Spinach
Chia seeds
Unsweetened almond milk
Frozen mixed berries
Frozen banana
Banana slices
Sliced strawberries
Chia seeds
Chopped almonds
Coconut shavings 


What to do:

Blend together your greens (kale or spinach), chia seeds, and milk. Add your frozen berries and frozen banana to the blender. Pour smoothie into the bowl and start adding the toppings – Banana slices, sliced strawberries, blueberries, chia seeds, chopped almonds, coconut shavings, and granola.
